REVIEW : MALAYALAM MOVIE `ORISSA’ - ILLUMINATING THE REALITY WORLD

There are moments  in your life when you want the time to pause.. Same way while watching this movie `ORISSA’, you will go through many touching scenes which push you into the depth of oblivion and the soul longing for a continuity of the same.

Versatile director M.Padmakumar unleashes his creative best in this movie evolving it as a poetic experience and at the same time lets you to enjoy the thrills and excitement of life in a backward North Indian village . However, When you confront the hard hitting realities of the story it will make you uneasy as well. So the gifted script writer  G.S. Anil deserves full credit for his neat attempt in presenting a gripping story.

It is a love story between a malayalee policeman Christu Das(Unni mukundan) and an Oriyan girl Suneyi(Saanika Nambiar) happened around two decades ago in the back drop of rural Orissa. How Christu Das and suneyi get united at the end conquering all hurdles, is the central point of the story.

The movie discusses about the conflicts that women face, largely due to prevalent traditional old age social norms like forced prostitution and very ruthless feudalistic zamindari system in the village.

I must say my hats off to Unni Mukundan for his portrayal of righteous policeman with a heart fraught with love and care. He is seductively charming  in many scenes and in emotional sequences he is terrific. Saanika displayed unmatched enthusiasm and energy in her debut performance . kaniha’s performance is restrained and natural.

Natural beauty cliqued by the camera lens will leave you dumbfounded.

The movie is a total entertainer and will surely win the hearts of mollywood viewers, especially the family audience.
