`AMEN‘ Malayalam movie Review- A TREAT TO WATCH

We human beings are emotional creatures with feelings pent up, desires uncontrollable, fears indescribable and anxieties unending. In this stressful life, love and compassion has its own place. A desire to love the opposite sex is followed by determination and conscious efforts to fulfill the same. But in this movie the brilliant director (Lijo Jose Pellissery)with the help of a thoughtful script writer( P S Rafeeque) takes the viewers through the unconventional path completing the fantasy like journey to reach the anti-climax  `The End ‘, while all were expecting a predictable climax.

Story goes like this. Solomon(Fahad Fazil) from a poor family is in deep love with Sosamma(Swati Reddy) who belongs to a wealthy family. However, Sosamma’s family is against this love affair. The story goes ahead in the back ground of St.Geevarghese church in the village.  The movie drags till the asst.vicar of the church  Fr.Vincent Vattoli(Indrajith) arrives  and he drives the film forward.

One thing I would mention here is that Director should have avoided use of abusive language in the movie. He has well crafted this beautiful movie then why this addiction for dirty jokes? Never in the past a director has presented a movie in a surprisingly impressive manner as this one even though basically similar stories have been narrated earlier by other directors too. So you can say an ordinary story is presented in an unusual way .

The dejected helpless Solomon’s role was sincerely enacted by Fahad Fasil. He speaks less but his body language is the proclamation of his hidden acting skills. Indrajith’s character conveys the Bible message - Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.  All others have performed their roles well.

Brilliant camera work –  especially songs picturisation- by Abinandam Ramanujam deserves loud applause.Music by talented Prashant pillai is superb.

Director Lijo Jose Pellissery has done a wonderful job and has given a shock treatment to the mainstream cinema. One eagerly awaits his next.

ON A REVENGE MISSION - MALAYALAM MOVIE ` ITHU PATHIRAMANAL’ REVIEW

“We should  forgive our enemies
But not before they are hanged”
                 -    Heinrich Heine
`ITHU PATHIRAMANAL’ is a revenge story penned by Babu janardhanan and directed by acclaimed director M.Padmakumar starring Jaysurya,Unni Mukundan and Remya Nambeesan in the lead roles. Director has crafted the movie telling a straight story revolving around a young man Eldo(Unni Mukundan) who is in search of his father’s murderer and ultimately the mission is completed  when the guilty is punished.

The movie is engaging and entertaining with a simple story  felt complex  at times  but thanks to a touch of brilliance by director you are kept hooked to the last minute high tension climax and  the movie is elevated to  the ranks of finest movies of the year.

Have you ever stopped to think  why a human being especially in his youth  decides to take revenge on his own for  the murder of his father or for a highly disgraceful event took place  in the family?   You will answer that only in very rare cases  such extreme  emotional decisions are taken  and otherwise law of the  land will take its own course.  Rare incidents are also real  but not generalized . However, a story writer or a film maker has a different perception and wants to fully explore such rare behaviour of reacting in a certain way . Such an inner desire for revenge is so intense that it becomes a strong belief manifesting to create a momentum of action in a person and he is never frightened about the consequences  whatever it may be.

JAYA SURYA shines in the role of Johny kutty  and the character is developed in such a manner that the audience is easily get attached to him.

Unni Mukundan’s role in the film is highly realistic .It seemed he actually lived the character he played. He proved he is the mass hero with a difference who can carry a movie on his shoulders.

The heroine of the movie, Remya Nambeesan proved that she is a brilliant performer and watching her playing the role of Sara leave you convinced of her acting skills. Pradeep Rawat in the bad man’s role is at his best and his facial expressions  do most of the talking.
Hard hitting  and soulful Dialogues are the  strength of the movie. Fight scenes in the climax are excellent . Music  and BG score is Impressive. Scenic beauty of Alappuzha –kuttandu location captured by the camera is mind blowing.

Kudos to director Padmakumar for presenting  a hearty  family  entertainer.
